Brasenose, like most colleges, has a student committee member (or two) in charge of organising fun college events for students to enjoy when they are not studying. These students are called Entz (entertainment) reps and this year they are Joey Fisher (2^nd year Biochem) and Maria Ryan (2^nd year Chemistry).

The latest in our series interviews with academic staff sees us speak to Dr Geoff Bird, Professor of Experimental Psychology at Brasenose.

This summer I completed my final year exams in Law. Summing up three years at Brasenose is pretty difficult; Brasenose has been my home for what feels like a lifetime.

My first year at Oxford was amazing. I have so many great memories and I’ve made so many new friends (unsurprisingly as I’m at Brasenose – the friendliest college).

Last month I finished my final year exams and in just a few short days I will be leaving Oxford and Brasenose. It seems to have gone by so quickly, yet I’ve experienced so much here at Oxford.

How to sum up my time at Brasenose? After 4 years at Oxford, countless lectures and tutorials, and a whole array of academic and social experiences, this is no easy task!

Gillian Hamnett is Oxford’s University’s Director of Student Welfare and Support. She took up her appointment in April 2017 and, at the same time, Brasenose was delighted to elect Gillian to a College Fellowship.

Brasenose College is delighted to announce exceptional results in this summer’s finals examinations. Of the 95 students set to graduate in July, 18 women and 20 men achieved first-class degrees, while a further 56 obtained a 2:1 (upper-second).

On a uniquely sunny day in the middle of May, Brasenose hosted Frewchella, the first music festival the college has ever seen.

On the 22^nd of June I handed in my keys to Brasenose College porter’s lodge for the last time.

Released on Friday 16 June, the Queen’s Birthday Honours List recognises the achievements of extraordinary people from across the UK. Among the recipients are four alumnae of Brasenose College who have been of service to the country in a diverse range of fields.

Three years ago, I left my small state school in the North East as the only pupil in my year to get an offer from Oxford.

Our series of interviews with our academic staff continues as we spoke to BNC’s Senior Kurti Fellow, Professor of Particle Physics Daniela Bortoletto, on her big experiments to find ultra-small particles.

Jenna Hebert is a first year MSc (Res) Psychiatry Rhodes Scholar at Brasenose College, and this year represented Oxford at the Cancer Research UK Boat Races in the Stroke seat of the women’s Blue Boat. She originally hails from and was educated in the United States.

On May 25th Brasenose College took part in a number of traditional festivities.

Last term, Brasenose College recognised two Old Members, Professor Michael Kosterlitz (1966) and Mr Mohamed Amersi (2014), by electing them to the prestigious rank of Honorary Fellow. 

Last month Brasenose held a Symposium on Child Learning and Raising Attainment, to mark the arrival of two new Tutors in Education, Professors Sonali Nag and Charles Hulme.

One evening in May, every other year, Brasenose’s quads are magically transformed as the biennial College Ball arrives. This year was no different, as on Saturday 6^th May we explored the delights of Odyssey: A Journey into the Unknown.
