Brasenose Auction in New York

The largest constituency of BNC members outside of the UK is in North America. Recognising that they might not be able to attend Quincentenary events in College, College was brought to New York for a 'one-night-only' Dinner at Sotheby's, New York.

Guests were greeted on arrivale by a recreation of the College's gatehouse, complete with Radcliffe Square railings and bicycles. Passing through the College 'Lodge' the guests entered 'Brasenose Hall', complete with replica protraits.

The Executive Vice President of Sotheby's, Hugh Hildesley (BNC 1960), conducted an auction of donated lots ranging from one's name in a book, to a fishing adventure and a South African holiday. The event raised $15,000 for the College and we are grateful to all our donors and bidders.

The evening was rounded off by the President Emeritus of New York University, John Brademas (BNC 1950).
