We admit nine students each year, with tutors teaching ethics, epistemology, development economics and political systems.

Applicants will need to take the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA). Further information on entry requirements is available on the central Oxford University website.

While Mathematics isn’t formally required for admission, PPE applicants should have a reasonable interest in and aptitude for Maths, as it features throughout the course. It’s particularly helpful for Economics, the first-year Philosophy logic course, and first and second-year Politics courses. In recent years over 90% of successful applicants had studied Maths to at least AS-level or equivalent. We’d encourage you to familiarise yourself with the basics of differentiation, elementary probability theory, and statistics before starting the course – whether through formal qualifications or on your own.

Careers

Many PPE graduates go on to further academic study. The careers most commonly chosen include banking and finance, politics, journalism, broadcasting and new media, law, political activism and campaigning, teaching, social work, voluntary organisations and charities, accountancy, business management, management consultancy, advertising, university teaching and research, think tanks and consultancy, work in international organisations, and the many branches of public service.
