Current Applicants
SCROLL TO EXPLORE
This cycle, the UCAS deadline for Oxford applicants was 6pm on 15 October.
Updating your contact details
After the UCAS deadline, please inform Brasenose directly of any changes to your contact details listed on your application. It is particularly important that we have an up-to-date postal address and email address for you, and a referee contact email at your school.
Submitting additional extenuating circumstances information
We understand that serious events may have happened, or may be happening, in your life which might have an impact on your studies and wellbeing. We refer to these as extenuating circumstances. It is valuable to inform us of any circumstances which have been a barrier to your learning so that the selectors for your subject can assess your achievements in this context. Most extenuating circumstances should be declared by your referee (normally a teacher or member of support staff at school) on your UCAS application. We appreciate, though, that in some cases, it may not be possible to fully explain a situation in this section. If there is any further information you feel we should know, please ask your referee to send it to Holly at admissions@bnc.ox.ac.uk. All details shared will be handled sensitively and passed on only to those assessing your application. There is a slightly different process for Medicine; please read the Medical School’s guidance on submitting information about extenuating circumstances. We must receive this information before admissions decisions are made.
Written Work
Please check whether you will need to submit written work here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/applying/guide-for-applicants/written-work.
Please submit your written work using this form. This form will ask you to provide your UCAS Personal ID as well as your name and email address. Some subjects require one piece of written work, whereas others require two. Each piece of written work should be uploaded as a separate PDF file. Each PDF file should consist of the piece of written work itself and an accompanying written work cover sheet. The written work cover sheet should be the first page of the document. Each College will have its own submission point; please only use this form if you have applied or been allocated to Brasenose.
If you are unable to use the online submission portal, you can instead send your written work attached to an email to admissions@bnc.ox.ac.uk. Please make the subject of your email ‘Written Work Submission_Preferred Name Surname_Subject’. Please note that we cannot accept hard copies of written work and we are unable to accept work hosted on file sharing sites such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
Fine Art portfolios
If you are applying for Fine Art, you should submit your portfolio via SlideRoom. Please check the Ruskin School of Art page for more information.
If you have declared a disability on your application, we will be in touch to ask you to indicate what adjustments or support the College might offer, should you be shortlisted and invited for an online interview. If you have a disability but have not yet declared it, please do this now by emailing us. This could include: a sensory or mobility impairment, a long-term illness or health condition, autism, a SpLD or a mental health condition (please note, this list is by no means exhaustive). To stress, any discussion of accommodations will not constitute an invitation to interview, nor will the information provided play any role in the shortlisting process. We contact you in advance of shortlisting decisions being made to ensure that we can consider appropriate, reasonable arrangements for you in good time.
Some examples of adjustments made in the past have included the following:
Please note that this is not exhaustive, and applicants are strongly encouraged to inform the College of other requests for adjustments as soon as possible. Please do not wait until you hear if you have been invited to interview.
Shortlisting decisions (whether you have been invited to interview) will be communicated via email between mid-November and early December. We will aim to notify all applicants as soon as decisions are made. All decisions will be sent 5-14 days in advance of the December interview period for your subject.
If you are shortlisted for interview, please read the email you receive carefully and please fill out the interviews survey.
All interviews will be online via Teams. You will receive a calendar invitation for each interview. Each calendar invitation will contain a link that will take you to that interview call on Microsoft Teams. When you click this, you will enter a virtual waiting room and your interviewers will then admit you. If you have not received the link for an interview 24 hours before the interview is due to start, please email Holly.
Please don’t worry if you hear that another applicant has received a shortlisting decision before you. Different courses and colleges will issue invitations on different days, depending on when their interviews are scheduled and when the tutors have finalised their decisions.
From mid-November, a table will be added here. It will populated to give you an indication of when you can expect to hear from the College regarding shortlisting decisions for all subjects and combinations.
Please take a look at the University’s interviews page for helpful guidance.
Each year, the Admissions and Outreach team runs Q&A sessions for prospective applicants who have received an invite to interview at Brasenose. The sign-up links will be circulated nearer the time, but please see the table below for an early indication of when we plan to run these. The aim of these sessions will be to chat through the format of interviews, hear some of our current students’ experiences, and ask any questions you may still have.
As you can see from the table below, the sessions are slightly targetted. If you are unable to make the session that best suits you, please just attend any other you are able to make as the vast majority of the content will be the same. There is no need to attend more than one session. Attending a session is not compulsory.
