The Kwai Cheong and Lena Liu Scholarship

Taiwu Liu (Finance, 2024), the current Scholar, has written a letter of thanks to the donors, including an update on his DPhil progress and news of his life at Brasenose so far.

Graduate student Panagiota Yiallouri tells us about her Oxford journey so far, and how the Robert & Soulla Kyprianou Scholarship enabled her to continue her studies with a History MSt at Brasenose.

Thank you so much for your support! It is an honour to receive the scholarship and I am always grateful for your great generosity. I would like to share something exciting about my academic progress and my life at Oxford.

I am a DPhil Finance student at Said Business School, doing research on academic finance. I am now working in the field of behavioural finance, where I am focusing on why investors perform irrationally in their investment decisions and the mechanisms behind the irrationality. It is a great pleasure for me to study the interactions between psychology and finance, to uncover the magic of human heuristics, bias and behaviours. I hope my research will help push the academic frontier and contribute to a more rational capital market.

With regards to my life at Oxford, I really like the ways of living here. I love the food, the community and the formal dinners. Although the weather is sometimes not wonderful, I am always positive living here as I am impressed by the people and the community.
