We usually admit around seven students each year, guided by tutors working on medieval writing, Renaissance drama, modern poetry and prose.
Applicants will need to take the English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT). Full details of entry requirements and admissions guidance are available on the central Oxford University website.
English can also be studied at Brasenose as a joint school, in combination with Modern Languages (English and Modern Languages) or with Classics (English and Classics).
Brasenose English graduates have gone on to work in the arts, education, charity and social work, marketing and communication, the media, journalism, publishing and academia. Alumni include lawyers, novelists, producers, teachers, actors and journalists. The degree develops strong analytical and communication skills that prepare graduates for a wide variety of careers.
