The next undergraduate Open Days at Brasenose College and the University of Oxford are taking place on 1st and 2nd July. We will be open from 9am to 5pm – there is no need to book! If you are interested in applying to Oxford as an undergraduate, then come along and say hello!
During the Open Days, we will have an army of student helpers who will be ready to give you a tour of the college, and chat about all things Oxford and Brasenose – be that college life, study, admissions, or anything you are curious about. Other events include a talk from the College’s Senior Tutor, Freyja Madsen, on Life at Brasenose and Admissions at 11am, and the always popular ‘Meet the Tutors’ sessions where, in the afternoon, our subject tutors will be about at various times to talk to prospective applicants about anything subject related, either as structured talks or drop-in Q&As. Please see our Open Days page for a timetable and keep up to date with us on Instagram @brasenosecollegeoutreach in the build-up and on the day.
Dr Joe Organ, who helps organise the Open Day, commented: “Over the years, so many of our visitors have loved the College enough to apply and end up being Brasenose undergraduates – and have often then helped out during subsequent Open Days and other visits. It is brilliant to hear our ambassadors’ enthusiasm for the College as they welcome guests. If you are visiting Oxford for the Open Days, we’d love the opportunity to show you why we love Brasenose so much – it could be your destiny!”
Please also take a look at the webpage for the wider University Open Days, as all colleges, departments, libraries, museums and other parts of the University will be open and running activities.
At Brasenose, we pride ourselves on having a diverse community of students, where we welcome the best and brightest from all backgrounds, across the UK and the world. 80% of our UK undergraduate are from state schools, although of course anyone is welcome to apply. This year, we will have around 112 students joining us from a huge variety of locations: Cardiff, Leeds, Belfast, Blackpool, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Slough, Bristol, Exeter and Cheshire, as well as from across London! Looking internationally, we have offer holders from the USA, France, Singapore, Türkiye, Malaysia, India, New Zealand, China and Germany.
Despite having a history that traces all the way back to the 1200s, Brasenose is a progressive and modern college. Brasenose was among the first of the Oxford colleges to become mixed gender (we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of admitting women this year), and the student council (the JCR) has representatives for sports, welfare, charities, LGBTQ+ and so much more! Everyone is welcome at Brasenose.
Each year, we run events to celebrate the brilliant individuals that make up the college community. Examples include LGBTQ+ events, a Chinese New Year dinner, a Burns Night dinner, a Ceilidh dance and Holi. Of course, there are lots of events put on by the students just for fun, such as music festivals, film nights, pub quizzes, Halloween parties, garden parties, music recitals, a massive selection of sports, and one of the university’s biggest arts weeks.
We hope to see you at the Open Day!
