A Lasting Legacy
SCROLL TO EXPLORE
Through sustained outreach, partnerships with schools, and a carefully designed programme of guidance and support which includes residential visits to Brasenose, the College actively reaches out to schools to seek out those with incredible potential whose backgrounds severely limit their access to Oxford. Introducing the possibility of a future at Brasenose as a tangible goal, rather than something beyond their reach, is the gateway to success for these talented young people.
As a consequence of this programme, we are proud that over 10% of students at Brasenose achieved their place having overcome significant social and economic barriers, performing exceptionally to take up their offer. We are equally proud of the warm and inclusive environment into which they are welcomed, where excellence is celebrated, and world-class educational standards are maintained.
Now, as Brasenose enters a new chapter, there is a unique opportunity to build on the remarkable progress made over the past decade in widening access and fostering inclusion. Established to mark the retirement of John Bowers KC and honour his transformative leadership, the permanently endowed John Bowers Opportunity Fund will ensure that his unwavering commitment to access, diversity, and inclusion is embedded in the College’s mission, enshrined for generations to come.
Now, as Brasenose enters a new chapter in its history, there is a unique opportunity to embed the gains of the past decade. The John Bowers Opportunity Fund reflects one of the defining themes of John Bowers’ principalship: a belief that excellence is strengthened when opportunity is extended as widely as possible.
