The Barrie Hesp Fund

SCROLL TO EXPLORE

Judith Hesp has made a generous gift in memory of her late husband, Dr Barrie Hesp (Chemistry, 1959), honouring his wishes and celebrating his lasting connection to the College. Their children, Clare Cukier and Richard Hesp, together with the wider family, supported the establishment of this gift. This contribution creates the Barrie Hesp Fund, an endowed fund dedicated to supporting students who encounter financial hardship during their time at the College.

The fund has been established in honour of our beloved husband and father, and in recognition of his enduring love for BNC, to support students in need.

The family of Dr Barrie Hesp

The Barrie Hesp Fund will provide financial awards to those in need, helping to ensure that talented students are able to continue their studies with stability and dignity.

Student needs can arise in many different forms, often at moments of real vulnerability. Support may help a student remain in College when their home circumstances make it difficult to return or provide a vital safety net when everyday living costs become overwhelming. At times, it may also enable access to urgent care or essential services that cannot be delayed. In each case, the aim is to offer timely, compassionate support that allows students to focus on their wellbeing and academic progress.

Through this enduring legacy, Judith Hesp and her family are helping to remove barriers to education and create opportunities for future generations – honouring Dr Barrie Hesp’s memory in a way that will have a lasting and meaningful impact.

Barrie’s family encourages anyone who is able to support this cause by making a donation to the Barrie Hesp Fund.
