Professor Christopher Vogel
BE Aukland, DPhil Oxf, FHEA
Stipendiary Lecturer
I came to Oxford for my DPhil after my undergraduate engineering degree at the University of Auckland, joining the Environmental Fluid Mechanics research group in the Department of Engineering Science. I was subsequently a post-doctoral research assistant and then a senior research associate in the same group. I was awarded a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship in 2021, and became an Associate Professor in 2025.
I teach a range of undergraduate engineering courses, including structures and dynamics, materials, and occasionally fluid mechanics. A strength of the undergraduate engineering course at Oxford is the breadth of topics that students see, which are connected by common analysis approaches and similar governing equations.
