Brasenose College invites applications for a William Golding Junior Research Fellowship in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Fellowship is open to suitably qualified post-doctoral researchers who are carrying out research in any branch of the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences in Oxford, either in the University or in an institute associated with the University. The Golding Fellowships are non-stipendiary but include membership of the Senior Common Room with free meals, and research and hospitality allowances. Fellows are required to have a salaried post with a significant research element, within the University or one of its institutes, with a tenure of at least twelve months with confirmed funding from the date of taking up the Fellowship. Fellows are normally no more than seven years since PhD/DPhil, excluding breaks for caring responsibilities. The Fellowship may not be held in conjunction with a Fellowship at another Oxford College.
The Fellowship will start on 1st October 2026 and, provided the Fellow continues to hold a salaried University post with a significant research element, will last for three years (non-renewable). The Fellow will be encouraged to make an active contribution to College life, to become a College graduate adviser, and may be requested to assist in the selection of undergraduate and graduate students of the College. A Golding Fellow may also be invited, but not required, to undertake paid teaching of up to six hours a week for Brasenose, in which case a contract of employment will be offered.
