How Gifts Make a Difference

I never imagined a laptop could make me this emotional but here I am, writing this with so much gratitude and heart. The MBA at Oxford has been incredible, but also intense. There’s so much to take in, build, code, write, present and in the middle of it all, my old laptop just couldn’t keep up anymore. That’s when Brasenose College stepped in. I now have a brand new laptop that will carry me through this academic year and far beyond. I am truly grateful to the alumni whose generosity made this possible. That quiet, unwavering support is what makes me feel like I truly belong here.

What about Brasenose’s endowment?

The endowment provides a strong and steady foundation for Brasenose, and it is natural to wonder why the College cannot simply draw more from it. In reality, the endowment is carefully managed to protect its long-term value, and there are limits on how its income can be used. The annual draw supports only around half of the College’s operating needs. Philanthropy fills this crucial space, empowering Brasenose to sustain excellence today while investing boldly in the future.

How the Endowment Works

I make monthly donations to the College to help provide financial support to students with limited means. No student who is talented and committed (as BNC students are) should be distracted from their intellectual pursuits and productive social engagements due to constant worries about money. I hope my donations help in small way to diminish them”
