Why Brasenose?

SCROLL TO EXPLORE

  • We are proud of our reputation as one of the friendliest colleges in Oxford – you’ll make friends across subjects and year groups, whether that’s over coffee after lectures or at one of the many events run throughout term.
  • We are in the heart of Oxford with the iconic Radcliffe Camera on our doorstep. Ideal for students eager to immerse themselves in life here, it is a quick walk to libraries, coffee shops, lecture halls and shops.
  • We are home to some 400 undergraduates studying everything from Chemistry to Classics, English to Engineering – our students’ diverse range of academic interests makes Brasenose the perfect for curious students who love learning and sharing what they know.
  • We are fortunate to have a brilliant community of tutors who are leaders in their fields and passionate about having meaningful discussions with pupils, encouraging them to delve into their subjects.
  • We can guarantee accommodation for all years of study across our main site on Radcliffe Square and our central Frewin Annexe, a five-minute walk away, off St. Michael’s Street.
  • Our students love our three College libraries, all open 24/7: the Greenland Library, Smith Reading Room, and the Stallybrass Memorial (Law) Library.
  • As well as university-wide scholarships, bursaries and grants, the College can provide financial support (please find full details here). We are committed to ensuring that financial worries are not a barrier to studying with us. We are more than happy to answer any additional queries; please contact our Admissions Officer.

We think Brasenose is a special place to be – please come and see for yourself during the university-wide Open Days! With the biggest (and most enthusiastic!) group of student helpers of any college, keen to show you around Brasenose, and the chance to chat to the tutors who could be teaching you, this is the place to be.

Can’t make an Open Day? Not to worry – prospective students are welcome to visit all year round. To arrange a visit, please get in touch with Joe and Holly in the Outreach team (outreach.bnc.ox.ac.uk).
