What’s the best part of studying at Brasenose?

The location of Brasenose is second to none! You can easily pop into college for a catch up with friends, to grab some dinner, or check out HCR events organised by our wonderful committee!

Favourite spot in college?

What’s your favourite aspect of your course?

My favourite aspect of the course is how well integrated undergraduate students, DPhil students, postdocs, professors, and research staff are in the Experimental psychology department. No matter which stage you are at in your research career, your voice is valued and given opportunity to be heard. This is such a strength of department as it promotes the sharing of ideas and ultimately better research.

What would you tell someone thinking about applying?

The DPhil in Experimental Psychology is an incredibly exciting and rewarding experience, though like anything worthwhile it is not without its challenges. Much of your research will be conducted independently, therefore a genuine interest in your chosen research area is crucial to maintain focus on your work and, very importantly, to enjoy it! Undertaking the position of DPhil student grants you membership to an exceptional team of people – both your lab and the wider department. Immersing yourself in lab discussions will be essential for overcoming challenges in your projects and will ultimately allow you to get the most out of your time here.

A quality you think is important for someone looking to study at Oxford?

Authenticity! The unique ideas and perspectives you bring to the discussion.
