Financial support for postgraduate students – scholarships, research allowances and bursaries.

SCROLL TO EXPLORE

Brasenose offers a range of graduate scholarships and funding. All our offer holders are automatically considered – you don't need to submit a separate application.

Graduate scholarships

Brasenose contributes over £550,000 towards graduate studentships and scholarships each year. We offer both full studentships (covering tuition fees and stipend for living costs) and partial awards. We also partner with Faculties, Departments and the University to maximise the number of funded students.

You don’t need to submit a separate scholarship application – all offer holders are automatically considered for all funding for which they’re eligible.

Graduate research allowances

As a Brasenose graduate student, you can apply for research allowances to support your academic work:

  • One-year courses: up to £225
  • Two-year courses: up to £450
  • DPhil students: up to £975

These allowances cover research expenses such as attending conferences, research travel, or purchasing books and materials.

Clinical Medicine students have a separate allowance to assist with the purchase of medical equipment such as scrubs and stethoscopes. This is £300 in Year 4 and £225 in Year 5.

Brasenose has amazing support for students to pursue their academic and extracurricular passions. Through Brasenose, I have been able to go clay pigeon shooting, take weekly salsa classes, and learn French through the Oxford Language Centre.

Student support funding

Student support grants are available to help with your academic costs (equipment, textbooks, field trips, lab placements), year abroad expenses, language courses, sports, theatre productions, music lessons and travel. Grants are typically up to £500 per application, with rounds each term.

Mini bursaries

We offer a small number of means-tested mini-bursaries when you need additional financial support.
