Graduates: Next steps

If you have met all of your academic and financial conditions, you should have been asked to complete your University card form by your Department or Faculty. This will allow the University to set up your registration and generate your card and email account (note: this will not happen before 1st September). Any delay in returning this can cause problems on arrival. If you have not yet received any communication about your University card form, please contact your Department via the email address on your offer letter. If you have any issues, please let us know.

The College Doctors have written a letter explaining how to register with them. One of the links is broken in the letter – to access online GP registration, please follow this link: http://www.campusdoctor.co.uk/oxford/. Please complete this process as soon as possible, so that you can be registered before you come to Oxford, and to ensure that you can access medical care from the moment you arrive. If you are already registered with a surgery in Oxford and would prefer to stay with your current surgery, please email us with the details.

The College Doctors and our College Nurse, Kinneret, have also produced this guide outlining the support they provide.

You will need your NHS number available. If you are an international student, please register with the College Doctor to get an NHS number as soon as possible.

We have also been asked to share that you are eligible for your MenB vaccine; please see further information on the graphic.

If you have a disability or medical condition (including mental health conditions, and dyslexia and dyspraxia), please contact the University’s Disability Advisory Service (DAS). It is very important that you contact the DAS quickly if you require any adjustments or support so that the College can make suitable arrangements in preparation for your arrival.

Once you have returned your card form via the Graduate Admissions portal, your University IT account will be set up. You will be sent an email giving you your login details to activate your accounts, and asking you to log in to Student Self-Service to register and check your details in preparation for enrolment.  It is very important that you do this as quickly as possible as you must have completed this part of online registration before we can give you your University card and enrol you (see section 6 of this page).

The details of our IT systems are linked below. We completely appreciate that this may look daunting, but please don’t worry – there will plenty of opportunities to ask questions and access support once you join us.

The College’s IT Office will hold an online IT induction in late September, to help you set up all the key IT systems and accounts you will need as a Brasenose student. This will be convened via Zoom on Tuesday 22nd September at 10:30 BST. A link to the meeting and passcode will be emailed to you all the week before. Please don’t worry if you are unable to attend; a recording of the meeting will be circulated afterwards.

If you are coming to Oxford on a student visa, we ask that you submit a copy of your documents before we can complete your enrolment. Please follow the instructions on the submission portal below; you will need a scan of your passport and your e-Visa share code.

Completing the Harassment and Sexual Misconduct training is a requirement for all students starting a course at Oxford, as part of the University’s commitment to preventing and responding to harassment and sexual misconduct.

Please read through this webpage and this document, and complete the training after receiving your SSO (Single Sign-On) and before completing student registration.

Once you have arrived in Oxford, please come and collect your University card and complete your enrolment in person. This will take place in the College Office (staircase 12, main site) and the standard timeslots for this are on the Freshers Timetable. If you need to come outside of these times, please email us to let us know when you’d like to come.

Please note, we cannot enrol you as a student until you have completed the previous steps on this page.

You are all invited to our Graduate Freshers’ Dinner, which will be held on Wednesday 7th October. Please confirm your attendance and provide your dietary information via the link below. Again, if you have any trouble submitting your preferences, please contact us.

All students new to Oxford will be asked to attend Matriculation, a traditional ceremony which marks your formal admission to the University. This year, the Brasenose students will matriculate on Saturday 17th October at the Sheldonian Theatre.

You’ll need to wear sub fusc for this which means academic dress. Please read the instructions on academic dress carefully so you have what you need. You’ll also wear this for exams, and the gown (on top of normal clothing) for some formal meals in college.
