We have two tutorial Fellows, one focusing on modern German thought and the other on modern French and comparative literature.
Applicants will need to take the Modern Languages Admissions Test (MLAT). Further information on entry requirements is available on the central Oxford University website.
Modern Languages at Brasenose may be studied:
– as a single language;
– as two Modern Languages;
– with English (English and Modern Languages);
– with Classics (Classics and Modern Languages);
– with History (History and Modern Languages);
– with Philosophy (Philosophy and Modern Languages);
– with Linguistics (Modern Languages and Linguistics); or
– with European and Middle Eastern Languages (French or German).
The College admits students for all University languages except Celtic, Portuguese and Modern Greek, and particularly welcomes applicants for French and German.
Brasenose Modern Languages graduates have gone into a wide range of professions including the Foreign Office, education, the arts, journalism, law, interpreting, management consultancy, banking, accountancy and business. Employers value the linguistic ability, cultural understanding and communication skills developed through the course.
