Brasenose College’s Prof Samira Lakhal-Littleton has become an elected Member of The Academia Europaea. The Academia Europaea (AE) is the Pan-European Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Letters, founded in 1988 as an initiative of the Royal Society to co-ordinate European interests in national research agencies. Its 5,500 members are world-leading experts from the physical sciences and technology, biological sciences and medicine, mathematics, the letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics and the law. The aim of the Academy is to promote European research, advise governments and international organisations in scientific matters, and further interdisciplinary and international research.
On learning about her election, Samira commented: “I hope to harness my membership of AE to promote research into and awareness of the impact of iron deficiency on human health, and to shape health policies around the monitoring and management of iron levels in primary and secondary healthcare settings”
At Brasenose College Samira teaches preclinical students on Principles of Physiology, Applied Physiology and Pharmacology, and Biochemistry and Medical Genetics. Read more about her here.
