Dame Antonia Romeo DCB (PPE, 1993) is a senior British civil servant who, as of April 2025, serves as Permanent Under-Secretary of State at the Home Office, the most senior official responsible for delivering its strategic objectives. She has held several top leadership roles across government, including Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Justice and at the Department for International Trade. Her earlier career in public service has included roles such as British Consul-General in New York, Director-General of Economic and Domestic Affairs in the Cabinet Office, and work on major policy priorities across Whitehall. Dame Antonia began her career as an economist and has degrees from the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics. She also holds leadership positions on the Civil Service Board and in wider civic organisations.
