Dr Marina Popea

BA MA Lausanne, MA Chile, DPhil Oxf

Stipendiary Lecturer

I joined Brasenose in 2024, having previously held a research post at Nottingham Trent University as part of the Spaces of Translation project, and taught for a range of Oxford colleges since 2020.

My research and teaching revolve around nineteenth- and twentieth-century Spanish American literature, with a special interest in translation, periodicals, and the history of poetics. My recent work has focused on the evolution of poetic form in Mexico in the early twentieth century, and I am currently working on a new project about the role played by literary magazines in the international diffusion of Spanish American literature during the cultural Cold War.

I am also a Research Associate of the Latin American Centre.

I teach the full Prelims course for students in Spanish at Brasenose and Balliol, as well as FHS Papers I, II, XIV, and all Spanish American options for Papers VIII and XI.
