The next undergrduate Open Days at Brasenose College are taking place on the 29th and 29th June, as well as the 15th September. We will be open from 9am to 5pm, and are prospective students are welcome! better yet, there is no need to book - if you are interested in applying to Oxford as an undergraduate, then come along and say hello!
During the Open Days, we will have an army of student helpers who will be ready and rearing to give you a tour of the college, and chat about all things Oxford and Brasenose - be that college life, study, admissions, or anything you are curious about. Other events include a talk from the Cllege's senior Tutor, Dr Simon Smith, on life at Brasenose and Admissions at 11am, and the awlays popular 'Meet the Tutors'. In the afternoon, our subject tutors will be about at various times to talk to prospective applicants about anything subject related, either as structured talks or drop-in Q&As.
Olivia McQuaid, a third year classicist who will be one of our student helpers, commented: "Open Days are THE best way to explore Oxford and take in all the different colleges. I came in July 2019 (which feels like a lifetime ago now I’m at the end of my third year), and I was extremely nervous. I didn’t really have an idea of what Oxford was like or what the difference between colleges was, and neither did my parents who came along with me. Yet I left feeling so comforted and excited about applying. I was walking past Brasenose and was drawn in by music blasting and smiling faces, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and to be showing off their college. I ended up spending nearly an hour walking around, chatting to tutors and to students, and just taking in the atmosphere, but as soon as I walked through those gates on Radcliffe Square I knew this was the place for me. From that fateful day in 2019, Brasenose has really felt like home, and I can sincerely say that the feeling has not changed as I write this four years later in June 2023. As you can imagine, when I got my offer through in January 2020 I was over the moon to be coming to Brasenose. I’ve had the best 3 years here and couldn’t be happier to be helping out again on the Open Days in July and September!"
Like Olivia, many of our student helpers originally chose to apply because of their experience at a Brasenose Open Day, putting us down as thier college preference. It is truly exciting to think that this could be you in a few years time! So, come along, chat to our students and staff, soak in the Brasenose atmosphere, and see what all the fuss is about!
The Brasenose Open Days coincide with the wider University Open Days, where colleges, departments, libraries, museums and other parts of the Univeristy are open and running activities.
