2023 Frankland Visitor - Jo Baring

We are delighted to announce that Jo Baring (Modern History, 1996) will be our 2023 Frankland Visitor.

A range of events are being prepared events with students in Arts Week (3rd Week) and throughout the year including a project to re-hang the Ingram Collection in the Amersi Room, an alumni event, and a Principal’s Conversations in Michaelmas Term.

Jo Baring is a former Director of Christie's U.K. and is currently Director of the Ingram Collection. She publishes widely on 20th century and contemporary art and is a regular speaker at institutions, art fairs and galleries. Her book ‘Revisiting Modern British Art’ (published 2022) was called a ‘gamechanger’ and most recently she edited the monograph on Royal Academician Hughie O’Donoghue (publishing autumn 2023).  Jo is also the co-writer and co-presenter of the critically acclaimed podcast, Sculpting Lives. In 2016 she launched the Ingram Prize, now one of the country’s leading prizes for visual arts, and previous winners include 2022 Turner Prize nominee Sin Wai Kin. Jo has curated exhibitions across the U.K and internationally. Her curatorial projects for 2023 include a show for MICAS (Malta International Contemporary Art Space) and a collaboration across two venues with The Women’s Art Collection, Murray Edwards College, Cambridge. Jo sits on the board of the Artists’ Collecting Society and Women of the Year.
