International Relations Talk

ZeevMaozOn Friday 4th November Brasenose will be holding an International Relations talk by Professor Zeev Maoz. He will discuss the effects of shocks on international alliance and trade networks from 1816 to 2010. Zeev Maoz is a Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Davis, as well as Distinguished Fellow at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, Israel. He is Director of the Correlates of War Project and former President of the Peace Science Society (International). Prof. Maoz is the author and editor of twelve books in International Relations. His scholarly articles appeared in leading journals such as the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, World Politics, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Security, International Studies Quarterly and others. His fields of specialization include strategy and international security affairs, international relations theory, decision making and negotiations, and political methodology. In the field of Middle East politics, his work concentrates on the international relations of the region. Prof. Maoz serves on the editorial board of several journals including International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Interactions, and Conflict Management and Peace Science. He is the first non-North American recipient of the Karl Deutsch Award of the International Studies Association for his scholarly contribution to international relations research. During the years 1999-2000 he served as the Vice President of the International Studies Association. His current work focuses on network analysis of international politics, enduring international rivalries, democratic peace theory, Israeli national security and foreign policy, and Middle East politics.
