Undergraduate First Years officially became part the Brasenose community at the beginning of October when they came up to Oxford to experience Freshers’ Week. They were welcomed by another self-professed fresher, our new Principal, John Bowers QC.
The week featured a Jazz afternoon in Chapel, historical tours of Brasenose, a BBQ down the Boat House and multiple performances by Oxford’s own acapella groups and comedy troupes. Freshers also experienced a Ghost Tour of Oxford, the traditional Brasenose-themed ‘bop’ and a Ceilidh to round out the week.
Jess Freedman, the student Access and Admissions rep and lead organiser of Freshers’ Week, had this to say: “It was a week full of activities, enthusiasm and excitement, showcasing all Brasenose has to offer, and a delight to be a part of. The Freshers settled into college life as older years went out of their way to welcome them.”
Siddarth Shrikanth, student President, said “It’s remarkable that even though a third of all undergraduates leave and a new cohort joins us every year, Brasenose feels much the same as it did when I first came up- warm, welcoming and incredibly friendly. I’m proud of the work our team did this year in putting on a great Freshers’ Week, and excited for the coming year.”
