Claire Wickes has performed as guest principal flute with the BBC Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras, and sub-principal of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Claire also performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, including recent engagements at St Martin in the Fields, St Johns Smith Square, the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room, Cadogan Hall, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, and in Kyoto, Japan. Claire studied for her undergraduate BA in Music at Brasenose College, Oxford, where she held an academic scholarship and graduated with first-class honours.
Christian Wilson, Brasenose's Director of Music commented: ""Brasenose College is delighted to welcome back former student Claire Wickes to perform the first Platnauer Concert of the 2015-2016 season. Claire is an outstanding flautist who has performed around the world since leaving Brasenose. Current members of college are warmly invited to attend this free concert held in the college ante chapel"
The Platnauer Concerts were established to honour the memory of Maurice Platnauer, Principal of Brasenose (1956-1960).
