1509 Society

The 1509 Society, referring to the year of our foundation, recognises those Brasenose Old Members who donate £1,509 or more in a year.

All support is vital and gifts of this level have a tremendous impact on the College, its Fellows and students. Three gifts qualifying gifts for the 1509 Society could fund a maximum student bursary for an academically promising student from a household with a low household income. Around a quarter of Brasenose undergraduates receive some kind of financial support with one-tenth being awarded a maximum bursary.

"Receiving a Brasenose bursary has made a huge difference to my time at Oxford. In addition to essential help with my day-to-day living expenses, it has allowed me to get involved with aspects of College and University life from which I would have otherwise been excluded."

Members of the 1509 Society and their guests will be invited to regular events to meet students and Fellows to learn about the impact of their donations on the BNC community. The Society celebrated its launch on 30 June 2015 at the home of alumnus and 1509 Society member Simon Lough (PPE, 1981) – photographs can be viewed here.

We encourage donors to become committed members of the 1509 Society by giving at least at the levels below via Direct Debit. Alternatively, an Old Member may wish to join the Society for one year by giving £1,509 or more.
