Music at Brasenose: the Wingfield Organ Day and the Platnauer Concert

wingfield_organ.jpgTwo musical events took place in the Brasenose Chapel on the weekend of the 30th and 31st of January. The Wingfield Organ Day featured several talks and a demonstration of the instrument, which is a reconstruction based on a fragment of an Organ thought to be built during the 1530s or 1540s, found in a church in Suffolk. The Wingfield Organ Day took place on Saturday 30th of January at 12.30pm, and was open to the public.

The Platnauer Concert, open to all members of Brasenose College, took place on Sunday 31st of January at 9.00pm. The concert featured the Marian Consort, an Oxford-based vocal group, together with the sounds of the Wingfield Organ, played by Magnus Williamson. Following the concert, guests joined the Principal and Fellows for refreshments in the Senior Common Room.
